I was a student of yours in 1959 at NIU DeKalb. The work I did was mind opening and important to me then and always and I wanted to say thank you very much a very long time. My website is http://www.nichollsphotography.com Please be in touch. I hope I meet you someday. I live in New York now. Chicago was too cold. peace.
David,
I read your poem, “Poe’s Anvil” on The Writer’s Almanac this morning and nearly cried. Then I reread it and did cry. One more try… having Garrison read it to me didn’t help. Several visuals of that Sunday morning at the drive-in theater kept leveling me. “…iron that once ran like ink.” “…or Moby Dick’s stretched skin.”
I’m an artist, but when I can’t paint words serve me. Yours were a delicious treat.
